Tasting Notes

Part of Spottswoode’s storied history inspired the name Lyndenhurst, a tribute to the fragrant linden trees that still bloom in the gardens today. Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon is a dynamic and inviting wine made from grapes grown in the Estate Vineyard blended with those from other acclaimed family-owned vineyards. Aged for 20 months in mostly French with some Hungarian oak ( 57% new).

Winemaker Notes: An energetic Napa Valley Cabernet with a bright and impactful first impression imparting flavors of black and red cherries. Medium-bodied with well-integrated, powdery tannins. Notes of blackberry bramble, raspberry, and red currant mingle with cocoa, dried herbs, and crushed graphite. Great acidity. Well balanced and structured, this wine can be enjoyed upon release, and can also be cellared and enjoyed in the years to come.

Food Pairings

Try with a grilled strip loin or rib steak, lamb loin chops or ratatouille

Third Party Reviews

Jamessuckling.com, James Suckling 95 POINTS
Aromas of blackcurrant, hazelnut and chocolate, with hints of mint and sage that follow through to a medium to full body, with wonderful soft and fine tannins that give a velvety texture and persistent finish. So balanced and refined. Subtle. Didn’t include wine from vineyards in Atlas Peak this year. An excellent 2020. Drinkable, but will improve so well in the cellar. (February 8, 2023)
Ken’s Wine Guide, Ken Hoggins 94 POINTS

This dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Spottswoode opens with a cassis, cedar, and black cherry bouquet with hints of black tea and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, soft, smooth, and elegant. The flavor profile is red currant and red plum blend with notes of cranberry. We also detected some hints of cinnamon, crushed stone, and cedar. The finish is dry, and its persistent fine grained dusty tannins are very long. (February 6, 2023)
