Sauvignon Blanc

One of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the world, which originated in Bordeaux but probably better associated with New Zealand today. Depending on the climate, the flavor can range from aggressively grassy to sweetly tropical. In cooler climates, the grape has a tendency to produce wines with noticeable acidity and “green flavors” of grass, green bell peppers and nettles with some tropical fruit (such as passion fruit) and floral (such as elderflower) notes. In warmer climates, it can develop more tropical fruit notes but risk losing a lot of aromatics from over-ripeness, leaving only slight grapefruit and tree fruit (such as peach) notes.

Casa Marin Cartagena Sauvignon Blanc 2022

The 2022 Cartagena Sauvignon Blanc is produced with grapes that come from the highest vineyard plots, with direct exposure to the Pacific Ocean. The harvest was carried out the first week of April. The blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sauvignon Gris was fermented separately in stainless steel and then blended before being bottled. On the nose it presents intense saline aromas, perfume of grapefruit and ripe citrus. It is complemented by tones of fresh herbs, asparagus and green mango. The clear acidity and the salinity of the Pacific Ocean are combined in this complex and balanced wine.

Expressive on the nose, combining floral fragrances with aromas of white peach and exotic fruit (pineapple, passion fruit).
